Frequently Asked Questions

What does the name “Prexury Collection” refer to?
This name is given to 3 cm-thick surfaces that are handcrafted through the selection and arrangement of semi-precious stone pieces which are subsequently fused with a special epoxy resin in a quantity which does not exceed 9%.

Can the Prexury Collection be used outdoors?
All products can be used outdoors, providing they are not exposed to direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause product colour to deteriorate due to the natural pigmentation of the resin. For this reason, Cosentino does not recommend using Prexury for outdoor spaces.

I’ve noticed that the surface bends somewhat. Is this a product defect?
These products, including the 400 kg slabs, are slightly flexible. They are not rigid and that is why they are difficult to break or warp. This idea is similar to that behind the materials used in earthquake-proof buildings, where their flexibility allows for some movement.

I’d love to use this product on a kitchen counter, but I am worried about it getting stained. Are there any products on the market to clean these surfaces?
No. In fact, all products in the Prexury range are stain-proof. To clean the surface, just use soap and warm water.

Are these products heat-resistant?
All of our products are resistant to moderate heat (we do not recommend placing recently heated objects on the countertop). They are not fire-resistant, however, and if exposed to heat for prolonged periods of time, their physical properties will deteriorate.
That is why if you choose one of our products for a fireplace, you must use standard refractory bricks as a base and then lay any of our products overtop.

I would love to use this product as flooring for a high-traffic area. Can this product be used as flooring?
Yes. The product hardness on Moh's scale makes it appropriate for this use. For specific hardness values, please refer to the product catalogue. By way of comparison, the average hardness of granite is between 5 and 7. All products in the collection have a hardness of 7 or above.

Each semi-precious stone is arranged and set into each slab individually. Will the stones in the slabs come apart when they are handled or cut?
You'll find an answer to this question in the manufacturer's instructions. If you follow these instructions when preparing the product for installation, the product is guaranteed.
